Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games

July 2003, saw Vancouver selected as the Host City for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, beating candidate cities Salzburg, Austria and PyeongChang, South Korea.

The 2010 Games will be held within the British Columbia state on the West Coast of Canada, spanning from the Mountain Resort of Whistler downward through Vancouver’s downtown centre to Richmond, just south of Vancouver, covering an area of over 120 kilometre’s.

The Games begin with the Opening Ceremony on 12th February through to the Closing Ceremony on 28th February.  In just over 2 weeks approximately 2,500 athletes will take part in 7 sporting events using 9 competition venues.

There will be 86 Olympic Winter games medal Events, 80 countries participating, 10,000 Media representatives, and 3 billion worldwide television viewers over the 17 days.
